چکیده

Based on the continuum mechanics and a multiple-elastic beam model, the nonlinear free vibration of embedded multiwall carbon nanotubes considering intertube radial displacement and the related internal degrees of freedom is investigated. By using the incremental harmonic balanced method, the iterative relationship of nonlinear amplitude and frequency for the single-wall nanotube and double-wall nanotube are expressed. In the numerical calculation, the amplitude frequency response curves of the nonlinear free vibration for the single-wall and double-wall nanotubes are obtained. The effects of the surrounding elastic medium, van der Waals forces and aspect ratio of the multi-wall nanotubes on the amplitude frequency response characteristics are discussed. r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Nonlinear Vibration Analysis of Embedded Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes in Thermal Environment

In this article, based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the large-amplitude vibration of multiwalled carbon nanotubes embedded in an elastic medium is investigated. The method of incremental harmonic balance is implemented to solve the set of governing nonlinear equations coupled via the van der Waals (vdW) interlayer force. The influences of number of tube walls, the elastic medium, nanotub...

Analysis of Nonlinear Vibrations for Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes Embedded in an Elastic Medium

Nonlinear free vibration analysis of double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) embedded in an elastic medium is studied in this paper based on classical (local) Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. Using the averaging method, the nonlinear free vibration responses of DWCNTs are obtained. The result is compared with the obtained results from the harmonic balance method for single-walled carbon nanotubes (...

Nonlinear Vibration Analysis of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in Thermal Environment using the Nonlocal Timoshenko Beam Model

In this paper, based on the nonlocal Timoshenko beam theory, a nonlinear model is presented for the vibrational behavior of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) embedded in elastic medium in thermal environment. Using the Timoshenko beam theory and nonlocal elasticity of Eringen, the influences of rotary inertia, transverse shear deformation and small scale effect are taken into account. To model the intera...

Nonlinear Nonlocal Vibration of an Embedded Viscoelastic Y-SWCNT Conveying Viscous Fluid Under Magnetic Field Using Homotopy Analysis Method

In the present work, effect of von Karman geometric nonlinearity on the vibration characteristics of a Y-shaped single walled carbon nanotube (Y-SWCNT) conveying viscose fluid is investigated based on Euler Bernoulli beam (EBB) model. The Y-SWCNT is also subjected to a longitudinal magnetic field which produces Lorentz force in transverse direction. In order to consider the small scale effects,...

Nonlinear vibration of a double-walled carbon nanotube embedded in a polymer matrix

In the current work, the nonlinear vibration of an embedded double-walled carbon nanotube (DWCNT) aroused by nonlinear van der Waals (vdW) interaction forces from both surrounding medium and adjacent tubes is studied. Using both Euler–Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam models, the relation between deflection amplitudes and resonant frequencies of the DWCNT is derived through harmonic balance method....
